learn vs. doing...

Belajar (learn) adalah aktifitas untuk mengisi otak kita dengan informasi-informasi baru atau menyegarkan kembali informasi yang sebelumnya pernah masuk kedalamnya. Dengan belajar kita mendapat ilmu yang dapat kita gunakan untuk memperbaiki bagaimana kita melakukan sesuatu. Ketika kita belajar bagaimana mengelola keuangan pribadi, maka kita bisa memakai teknik yang diajarkan dalam manajemen uang pribadi kita. Atau jika kita belajar bagaimana menjadi pengusaha (ato bahasa sononya enterpreneur :D), maka kita jadi punya ilmu gimana sih memulai usaha. Pun begitu dengan berbagai pelajaran lainya yang mungkin sangat banyak bisa kita temui.
Melakukan (doing) merupakan sebuah aktifitas untuk membuat, menerapkan atau mengerjakan sesuatu. Kalo dalam konteks belajar, melakukan berarti menerapkan apa yang telah kita pelajari.
Dalam banyak kasus, ternyata belajar dan melakukan merupakan dua hal yang sangat berbeda kalo ga boleh disebut bertentangan. Sederhananya begini, ketika sebuah buku yang kita baca mengajarkan sebuah cara yang kita juga setuju dengan cara itu, yang kita lakukan hanyalah mengangguk-angguk (orang bilang tanda setuju) saja. "Never do what should we do!" Jadi proses belajar kita hanya berhenti pada aktifitas "manthuk-manthuk" saja. Padahal seharusnya ketika ide/cara itu kita lakukan, hasilnya tentu berbeda daripada sekedar setuju saja. Jadi disini yang diperlukan sebenarnya nggak cuman ilmu untuk tahu melakukan sesuatu, tetapi juga motivasi/tujuan yang kuat kenapa kita harus melakukannya.

code name = da vinci

Well, this afternoon finally I watched Ron Howard's film The da Vinci Code. More than a year ago I've read its novel. I'm very exciting, waiting for the chance of seeing Dr. Langdon and Miss Nevue in the big screen.
Actually, I'm not so impressed with the opening of the scene. I think it was to0 quick for Langdon to figure out the symbols that Sauniere has left before his death. In the middle of the film, some of the subtitle in Indonesian was also missing. It was happen almost until in the end of the film. Speciffically when the talk about the history of crist. I don't know is it any reason behind this.
Over all, the film is good for shrinking a thick novel in only two quarter hour. Although if you read the novel, you will find a better one.

tuesday...

Tuesday is the second day in a week. In that day I was born. Today is also tuesday. And today is the second day of my assigntment to develope an interactive learning tutorial for OpenOffice.org application. I have approximately 2 week to create initial planning and prototype of this project. In this two beginning day, I spend a lot of my time to ask uncle Google about any available materials abaout this project. Some I have found as a static tutorial in html or pdf and the other in video format such as mov or swf. In the next couple of days I still searching this kind of materials.

Actually there're several plans and concepts in my mind about the result of this project. First, I must create the structure of my tutorial, and then break it down in small piece to create individual scene for each part of the chapter. And after all of this small piece have been created, I'll wrap in a nice, simple, goodlooking interface.

Hope, that's what I'll produce in the end of August.

why the story of light...

if you read the title of this blog, maybe you'll ask about it. what do I mean with those words. Is it "the story of light" look unfammiliar on you? And what do you think this tittle about..

Actually, there was a story behind it. These afternoon I've finished my job to read a very nice book (my girl thought) of "The Tale of Despereaux". And I think this book is good also. The book tell us about friendshipfull and love among a princess and a mice (little castile mice, I mean). It also show us about how to response a betrayal with love and emphatic. The story ended with a nice ending.

And then, where was that tittle coming from? At the end of the book, there was a couple sentences about it. Implicitly it say that the story just like a light.. it could give you a guidance through out the darkness..

I hope you will find these same light from my blog...
